Historic Flood Recovery
When a 500-year rainfall event struck St. Charles in July 2022, critical infrastructure across the city was left severely damaged. Seven different sites – each with unique failures – required immediate attention, coordinated design, and FEMA compliance. The City of St. Charles turned to a trusted partner in Bax Engineering to help assess, design, and restore key systems under intense time and funding pressures.
Highway N & Weiss Road Intersection Improvements
BAX Engineering redesigned this key intersection to meet updated traffic patterns, improve safety, and support long-range county transportation plans. Work included a new signalized trail crossing and a 1,550-foot trail connection built in coordination with Great Rivers Greenway.

first capitol drive enhancement
BAX Engineering led design improvements along First Capitol Drive and Fifth Street, enhancing pedestrian access with wider sidewalks, lighting, bench walls, and planter boxes. The project delivered safer crossings, better stormwater control, and improved transit amenities.

Sibley Street Sidewalk TAP Improvements
BAX Engineering delivered survey and engineering design for a 3,320-foot sidewalk extension along Sibley Street, improving walkability, ADA access, and traffic calming. Project features included curb and gutter work, drainage improvements, new ramps, and utility coordination.
