Hydrologic – Hydraulic Engineer
BAX Engineering is seeking an experienced Hydrologic/Hydraulic Engineer to support our water resources team. This role is responsible for flood studies and design of flood control measures, stormwater detention systems, and water quality improvements.
Key Responsibilities
FLOOD STUDIES & MODELING:
- Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling
- Develop flood management strategies and prepare CLOMR AND LOMR submittals
Detention & Water Quality Engineering - Design detention/retention basins
- Plan and design water quality features
TECHNICAL ANALYSIS
- Design drainage networks and stormwater conveyance systems to manage runoff and prevent erosion.
- Perform watershed analyses and scour analysis for bridges and culverts.
REGULATORY COMPLIANCE
- Prepare and review permit applications (e.g., FEMA, state-level environmental agencies) to ensure projects meet all federal, state, and local standards.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, engineering plans, and cost estimates for public and private stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in hydraulic modeling and water infrastructure design.
- Technical proficiency with industry software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, PondPack, StormCAD.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
